16 Ounce Titanium Smooth Face Straight Claw Framing Hammer with 16" Electrified Ironwood Handle

• The head design allows the user to swing this hammer sideways in tight spaces. The head is balanced on the side strike so that starting nails doesn't mean crushing a finger.

• Straight claw for hard to reach spaces, because of the thin claw design it can be used as a pry-bar/glaziers bar.

• High leverage nail puller with easy nail find design.

• Talon grip for twisting boards.

• Nail set for just about every nail on the market.

How This Was Made

Head: The titanium heads are made in an investment casting facility. They first make a wax replica of the hammer, then the replica is coated in a ceramic slurry.

Once the slurry has hardened the wax is melted out of the shell and the molten titanium is poured in.

After the hammers have cooled the ceramic coating is removed and then a variety of post-processing is done to bring the hammers to specifications.

Wooden handle: Hickory
Natural
, this handle is cut and shaped to specifications and then coated with oil for protection/longevity.

Dimensions

The 16" Ironwood handle brings the hammer to a 17.5" total length. 5-1/2" from face to claw. 1-3/8" total width

Care Instructions

Oiling Wood Handles: A coat of oil applied with a clean cloth will help repel moisture and dirt and keep the handle from becoming dry and brittle.

Linseed or tung oils are often recommended for this job because they dry quickly, but coconut oil or walnut oil work well, too.

For this job, you need to bring your tools into a heated space because any oil you use will penetrate wood handles best at room temperature. To get good coverage, saturate a cloth well with your chosen oil, and rub it into the wood. Let the handle sit for ten minutes, then wipe it down lightly with a dry cloth.
